There was a time when makeup was at the very bottom of my priority list. Sure, I wore it sometimes, but it wasn’t essential, and I honestly thought that the amount of time and money people spent on it was insane.
I was young and stupid then. Makeup is LYFE, and lips are a key element (right up there with eyebrows) so I have been on the hunt for the best bang-for-my-buck lipcolor and recently tried out Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Suck It (I have to admit, the name of the color is what sold me).
As with any product, there were good things and bad things so I’ll give you my thoughts from start to finish:
Application: OMG, this stuff feels like whipped cream! That was the first thing that came to my mind when it touched my lips (although, I’ve never put whipped cream on my lips, so I’ll have to put this theory to the test one day). It’s definitely a swipe-and-go kind of product. I only slowed down to line my lips and then colored them in. Since the formula is so smooth, though, it’s easy to get heavy-handed and cake it on, so a little goes a long way.
Moisture: I wouldn’t say that it kept my lips moist, but more importantly, it didn’t suck them dry and give me butt-crack lips, either. As I mentioned, the formula is very smooth, and even once it dried, I didn’t feel the need to reach for my lip balm.
All-Day Wear: Sadly, it’s not transfer proof. It got on everything from my coffee cup to my kids’ faces, BUT considering the fact that I saw so much of it on places other than my lips, the color was mostly in tact at the end of the day, with the exception of my water line…that went down the drain the moment I took my first sip of coffee. I refused to touch it up, tough, so at the end of the day it just looked like an ombre, which worked for me.
Removal: It came off easily with a little olive oil and a makeup remover wipe. I use the olive oil just for moisture purposes, but I think I could’ve gotten it off with just the wipe.
Final Thoughts: So should you buy it? I would say yes! I found it at Ulta for $21, and Too Faced is one of the brands that offers 5x rewards points every now and then, so I’ll wait until then to stock up on more colors (God bless rewards programs).
